THE HOUSE I LIVE IN
This is a documentary by Eugene Jarecki Which focuses on if the use of the method of of using impsonment (recidivism ) on criminals in the united states ,has curbed the level of crime in the states or if it has rather accentuated its rate.
Basically any Law student, lawyer or Law enforcement agent will recommend imprisonment as a traditional way of curbing crime, however this documentary argues and statistics has also shown that for the past years the level of Crime has not decreased but has grown progressively high and the the question is then asked on if the the traditional method of recidivism As a way of dealing with criminals is not effective?
Every citizen has a duty of thinking out the best ways to manage offenders , In United states the law makers have a huge role to play with regards to this as it has been found that in countries where nordic punishments have been applied, that the rate of crime was significantly reduced .The writer argues that punishments are best if the the rehablitative approach is adopted.
Also it has been observed by this documentary that the majority of criminals are the un educated citizens , this goes to the extent of showing the the united states government is also requires to invest on the lives of its uneducated purpulance by introducing a kind of government support program , something that should be more rewarding than the normal social security stipend.
The writer of the documentary didn't offer much solution but I. Suggest that in addition to rehabilitation also death penalty should be introduces to other severe offens as against imprisonment.
